

Davide Longo was born in Carmagnola, close to Turin.
In 2001 he published with Marcos y Marcos the novel Un mattino a Irgalem, winter of the Grinzane First Novel Award and the Via Po Award. During that year he also published a children’s book, Il laboratorio di Pinot.
In 2004 his second novel came out, Il mangiatore di pietre (Marcos y Marcos), winner of the Città di Bergamo Award and of the Viadana Award. He directs documentaries (Carmagnola che resiste, Memorie dell’altoforno), he writes plays for theatre (Pietro fuoco e cobalto, Il lavoro cantato, Ballata di un amore italiano, About Fenoglio) and radio programmes for RadioRai (Centolire, Luoghi non comuni). He wrote for many newspapers and magazines, including Repubblica, Avvenire, Slow Food, Donna, GQ, Travel and the Dutch newspaper Ncr.next. Edizioni Corraini published in 2006 La vita a un tratto. In 2007 he curated for Einaudi the anthology Racconti di montagna, and published with Corraini the book E più non dimandare, a collaboration with painter Valerio Berruti.
In January 2010 he published his third novel, L’uomo verticale, with Fandango, and won the Lucca Award. During the summer the book ll signor Mario, Bach e i settanta came out with Keller Editore. His most recent novel, Ballata di un amore italiano, was published by Feltrinelli.
He lives in Turin and teaches writing techniques at the famous Holden School. His books are translated in many countries.
