Florian Kessler was born in Heidelberg, Germany, in 1981, and now lives in Berlin. He studied creative writing and cultural journalism in Hildesheim, where he later gained a doctorate in literary studies. As a freelance journalist, he writes for Die Zeit, the Süddeutsche Zeitung and Tagesspiegel. In 2013 he published a work of non-fiction entitled Mut Bürger. Die Kunst des neuen Demonstrierens (“Courage Citizens. The Art of New Demonstrating”), which was awarded the Nicolas Born debut prize.
