Biografia

Marco Archetti was born in Brescia, Italy, in 1976.
From 2001 to 2003 he lived in Havana, where he wrote one of the three press reports that were published on the literary magazine "Nuovi Argomenti".
After participating, with a short story, to the anthology Gli intemperanti (Meridiano zero, 2003), he published his first novel, Lola Motel (Meridiano zero, 2004; Feltrinelli Super Ue, 2008). The novel, set in Cuba, mixes love stories and political dissidence and shows Havana through the eyes of he young and restless Felipe.
In February, 2005, Vent’anni che non dormo was published (Feltrinelli; Feltrinelli UE, 2007). In September 2005, Archetti participated to the workshop Scritture Giovani, developed by Festivaletteratura di Mantova (Italy). During the public presentation of the results of the workshop, where Archetti wrote Jet Lag, a comic short story  set in a cemetery, Texan writer Joe R. Lansdale praised him for his ability in manipulating different styles and genres.
This ability became even more precise in Maggio splendeva (Feltrinelli 2006; Feltrinelli UE, 2011): this novel mixes history with fantasy by telling the sentimental education of Leo, son of the Fascist period and tv star, who is brought by his aunt into an unlikely project of antifascist conspiracy.
In 2007 one of his short stories, Il binario, was included in the 2007/2008 Student Guide to Padua University.
During the summer of the same year he held many conferences at the Literature Festival of La Paz and in november he participated to the Cultural Week of Havana. In november he was invited to the International Festival of Guadalajara, Mexico.
During the first months of 2009 he contributed to the writing of the script of the movie Tutta colpa di Giuda by Davide Ferrario. In may, Gli asini volano alto came out (Feltrinelli), and was presented in Firenze together with famous writer Stefano Benni. Archetti and Benni read three whole chapters of the book.
In 2011 he published Sabato, addio (Feltrinelli), a noir novel told in first person like a hallucination: it's a story of vengeance and impossible love, between Filippo, a man without women, and a beautiful ballet dancer.
Over the years, he wrote articles and reports for “Vogue”, “D-Repubblica”, “Glamour”, “Maxim”, “Gioia”, “Il Secolo XIX”. He taught writing and reading classes at Statale University in Milan, Lecce University, Feltrinelli and Radio Popolare. He writes for "Corriere della Sera" with the column L'infiltrato speciale and he writes reports for "Vanity Fair".
