Gaute Heivoll, born in 1978, studied law, psychology and literature at university. He made his debut in 2002 with a collection of prose writings entitled Liten dansende gutt. The year after, the novel Omars siste dager appeared. Heivoll has received a number of scholarships and was awarded the Tiden Prize in 2003. In addition, he has written short stories, poetry and essays, which have been published in anthologies and literary journals. He has held writing courses for both children and adults, and he has worked as a literary critic on a daily newspaper. Recently, he has begun to extend his literary activities by working together with composers, choreographers, photographic artists and performance artists.
