Biografia

She was born in Bursa in 1984, raised in Istanbul. She went to Oruçgazi Elementary School and Pertevniyal Anatolian Highschool. In 2007, she graduated from the Journalism Department of Istanbul University, School of Communication. In 2003, she began working at the Aylık Paldır Kültür Dergisi Hayvan (Animal the Monthly Culture Magazine), where she stayed for three years. She then worked in the publishing committe of the Aylak Öykü Dergisi (The Drifter Story Magazine). Then Şahiner and a group of her friends prepared the fanzines called Slippery Ground, and Black Box. She worked as a reporter for the Marie Claire Magazine and Birgün Gazetesi (Oneday Newspaper). Later, she wrote scripts for television shows. She took screenplay lessons from Macit Koper and Ümit Ünal at the Screenplay Writer’s Association. Guitar and drawing lessons, scouting and mountain climbing are amongst the extracurricular activities she has done for years. For some time she has also worked as a waitress, and as a crafts person and a machinist in the clothing industry. Her story file “Gelin Başı (Bride’s Head)” was marked “Worthy” at the 2006 Yaşar Nabi Story Awards organized by Varlık Dergisi (Existence Magazine). Later in July 2007, her book “Gelin Başı” was published by Can Publishing House. She continues to write screenplays and work as a reporter for the newspaper called “Gaste”.
