Kirsten Fuchs was born inKarl-Marx-Stadt (Chemnitz) in 1977 and grew up inEast Berlin. After attending courses put on by the Writers’ Workshop – where she herself now teaches – she studied German for several semesters and completed her training as a joiner. Two years after winning her first literary prize in the renowned Berlin-based “Open Mike” competition, her debut novel appeared – “Die Titanic und Herr Berg” (2005). With caustic, playful language it describes an ardent love affair in the present climate of German hopelessness from the dual perspective of the two protagonists. Fuchs is active on the spoken word scene inBerlin. A collection of columns she has written for the Berlin daily “taz” is due to come out in the summer of 2006 under the title “Zieh dir das mal an!”. In 2011 her collection of short stories „Eine Frau spürt sowas nicht“ was published.
