Andrea Lundgren was born in 1986 in the town of Boden in northern Sweden, and she grew up in the nearby village of Vittjärv. During her school years her main interests were animals, making music, and having top marks in all her subjects. After upper secondary school she moved to Stockholm and just happened to take a creative writing course. That was when she started taking her writing, which had been nothing but a game until that point, seriously. Her first novel, I tunga vintrars mage, was published in 2010. Having received a grant from the Swedish Writers’ Fund, she spent the winter of 2011-12 in South America to get new perspectives and devote herself to her writing.
