Born in Bielefeld (Germany) in 1975. He studied Philosophy and Comparative Literature in Edinburgh, Tübingen and Berlin. Song-writer and occasionally also musician with the group Fön, he is a member of the literature collective Visch&Ferse and in 2001 was a prize-winner at the 9th Open Mike International Competition for Young German-Language Writers organised by the literaturWERKstatt berlin. In 2008 he was awarded the Ingeborg-Bachmann-Preis.
He has published in several newspapers and magazines (including BELLA triste – a magazine for new writing, EDIT – Papier für neue Texte, and the Berlin section of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung). In February 2003 his first novel, Erledigung vor der Feier, was published by Dumont Verlag, followed in 2005 by Wir bleiben in der Nähe and in 2008 by Der Kaiser von China.
He lives in Berlin.
